FFI AND EMT REIMBURSEMENT

The Firefighters Association of the State of Pennsylvania (FASP) has received a FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant to enhance Recruitment and Retention. One of the programs includes the offering Firefighter I and EMT training class reimbursement to local departments of up to $1,000 each, to enhance recruitment and retention. Pennsylvania Fire and EMS agencies who are members of the FASP can apply for these grants, on line. A link is provided from 2/1/26 through 3/31/26 to apply.

FIREFIGHTER I AND EMT REIMBURSEMENT APPLICATION

Please note:

This is a reimbursement grant. You must expend the funds, provide the receipts and payment confirmation; and for those who receive a clothing item, an attestation statement must be provided. A required close-out form will be provided upon awarding of the grant, so that you can properly prepare for payment.

The grants can pay for the following ONLY:

- FIREFIGHTER I training resulting in certification

- EMT training resulting in certification

Per FEMA requirements, An SOP must be implemented by your organization agreeing to abide by the grant rules, and indicate what will be paid for. A sample SOP will be provided for your assistance.

This is a reimbursement grant. You must expend the funds, provide the receipts and payment confirmation; and for those who receive the training, a certification confirmation documentation must be provided. You have up to November 30, 2025 to complete the certification.

Funds are provided on a first-come, first-serve basis. Up to $150,000 will be awarded each year. It may take 90 to 120 days for reimbursement from FEMA
